The comments make it clear to cook it in milk but the instructions say to boil it in water. Might be a good thing to clarify. Otherwise we are looking forward to this tonight!

Sarah hi again, I'll tweak the amount of miso yet again to total no more than 1/2 cup, as I'm afraid some cheeses might be saltier than average, and they plus the miso might the soup too salty. I would rather not risk it:-)

Dear Levana:
In your book, the recipe calls for 1/4 cup Miso Paste but online you put 1 cup.
Is this a mistake or did you increase/tweak the recipe?
Thanks

As mentioned in many of the comments this is really a great accomplishment. I don't think I can ever work like that because I am a bit lazy:) But really loved the dishes mentioned. Will surely try them out some day.

Rochel, I would highly recommend, if your family doesn't like spicy, that you skip this recipe and make something else. This recipe has a very definite personality, no point in adapting it for kiddies, no matter how much we love them. Matbukha may not be for them, and that's OK, we'll make the kids some other favorite dish. We're here, and we LOVE spicy!

Sima, The recipe is tried and true, I and quite a few fans make it all the time, with great success. Playing sleuth here: Wondering if the brand chick peas you are using might be a grade B, with less chick peas and more water. If you would rather keep using your brand, discard some of the liquid in the can, and proceed as instructed. That will do the trick.
